We Offer the Best HTV Rolls NZ Has to Offer

Our heat transfer vinyls are premium grade and can be repositioned or reapplied when peeled by mistake. Most other brands don’t offer this feature, which is actually essential for applying detailed patterns and letterings to a professional standard. Our htv vinyl rolls also come with special adhesive backing, which ensures easy application without curling or peeling. Our vinyl heat transfers will allow you to produce designs with vivid colours, crisp lines and a professional finish.

What Is Heat Transfer Vinyl?

Heat transfer vinyl is a type of vinyl polymer that can be used to create personalised designs on fabrics and other materials. HTV comes in the form of sheets or rolls of vinyl material with an adhesive back, which allows you to cut out shapes and letters from the material and apply them to fabric. Heat transfer vinyl is made in single colours and also has special options such as patterned, flocked, stretchable, holographic, glitter, glow-in-the-dark, 3D puff and reflective.

Heat transfer vinyls can be applied with a heat press machine or even an iron (for less professional results), which makes them relatively easy to use. With so many different colours, textures, and finishes available, heat transfer vinyl is one of the most versatile materials for creating custom designs.

If you want a professional-quality printable heat transfer vinyl roll, look no further than Five Star Prints & Supplies NZ.

FAQs About Heat Transfer Vinyls

What is a heat transfer vinyl roll used for?

Heat Transfer Vinyl rolls, also known as HTV, are a type of heat transfer material used for creating customised apparel designs. It works by transferring a design printed on special paper to fabric with an iron or heat press. Heat transfer vinyl is available in a variety of colours and finishes and can be used to create intricate designs that withstand repeated washing and wear. Heat transfer vinyl can also be used to decorate items such as backpacks, hats, pillows, and more. With the right equipment and some practice, you can create beautiful and unique designs that will last for years to come.

Can you apply heat transfer vinyls without a heat press machine?

Yes, heat transfer vinyl can be transferred onto clothing using an iron - however, the results may not be as consistent, high-quality or long-lasting as those that are transferred using a proper heat press machine.

Are HTV rolls better than transfer paper?

Heat transfer vinyl is a great alternative to traditional transfer paper, offering advantages that make it an attractive option for many projects. Heat transfer vinyl (HTV) can be used on a variety of fabrics, including cotton and polyester blends, while traditional transfer paper usually works best with 100% cotton fabric. HTV also has a more vibrant colour range and can produce sharper images than transfer paper. And because HTV is a thicker material, it"s less likely to tear or wrinkle during the transfer process. Also, designs made with heat transfer paper will not be as durable as those made with heat transfer vinyl.

How do HTV rolls compare with DTF (direct-to-film) printing?

Using HTV rolls involves cutting a design out of a special type of vinyl with an electronic cutter before pressing it onto the desired fabric. HTV is often seen as a preferable option for more intricate designs as each layer of the design can be cut and layered separately. Heat transfer vinyl is also less expensive than direct-to-film, making it a great choice for those on a budget.

Direct-to-film printing, on the other hand, involves using special inks that are printed directly onto transfer paper and then heat-pressed onto the fabric. As each layer is printed directly onto the material, this method allows for greater detail for complex designs. Although it is more expensive than HTV, direct-to-film printing can save time due to its automation processes, making it a great option for large orders or bulk printing.
